Drupal 7 migration
Drupal 7 stopped receiving security updates on January 5, 2025. We move your site to Drupal 11 without losing images, links or history.
Why it should not wait.
No security fixes
Flaws found in Drupal 7 no longer get an official fix. Drupal.org itself warns that these sites are exposed.
Harder to maintain every year
With no compatibility updates, the site stays tied to old versions of PHP and of its modules.
Paid support only buys time
Certified vendors sell extended support. It buys time, but the site is still on Drupal 7.
Not a simple upgrade
A new site is built and the content is migrated into it. It is also the moment to review what no longer serves you.
How we run the migration.
- 1
Inventory
We list the current site's content, modules, integrations and addresses, and decide what moves, what changes and what stays behind.
- 2
New site
We build the new site on Drupal 11, in parallel. The current site keeps running until launch.
- 3
Repeatable migration
The migration runs as many times as it takes and is tested before launch, until it holds no surprises.
- 4
Launch
We redirect the old addresses and train your team to work on the new site.
What we have already done.
Content from the University of the Algarve's previous portal was migrated automatically, and the module we use to fix links to files is published on Drupal.org.
Tamper File Link Remap
Fixes file links that still point at the old site after a migration.

- Files and internal links fixed with Tamper File Link Remap, a module of ours
- Redirects from the old addresses, so you keep your visits and your search rankings
Frequently asked questions.
Can I upgrade directly from Drupal 7 to Drupal 11?
No. There is no direct upgrade from Drupal 7 to the current versions: a new site is built and the content is migrated into it.
Which version should I migrate to?
Drupal 11. Support for Drupal 10 ends on December 9, 2026, so migrating to it is not worth it.
Will I lose my search rankings?
The old addresses are redirected to the new ones, precisely so you keep your visits and your rankings.
What about custom modules?
We go through them one by one in the inventory. Some now have an equivalent community module; the rest are rewritten for the new version.
How much does it cost and how long does it take?
It depends on the number of content types, modules and integrations. That is why we start with the inventory, and then reply with a clear proposal.
